I read a funny short story in the late 1960's about a teenage boy who was nervous about first date. He took the girl out for a burger and coke. He decided he needed some alka seltzer so he took it like an asprin with his coke. As the story unfolds, he is belching etc, and eventually ends up with selzer bubbling out of his nose. Any idea where I can find the story?

Easy! That incident, reprinted as an excerpt in many 1960s textbooks, originally appeared in Jane Austen's novel Northanger Abbey.
